1. Dear Jesus, grant humility

For all Your Christian children;

In Your example let us see

You humbly bear our burden -

When we to Heaven could not reach,

You joined us in the depths to teach

Where You won us Your glory.

 

2. Let Your meek mind so be in us,

That we avoid pride’s evil,

Since we that arrogance possess

From our great foe, the devil,

Whom You in flesh’s weakness crushed -

His haughtiness in blood was hushed

When You obeyed the Father. 

 

3. Therefore above all that is named

You reign with God the Father

In flesh that You redeemed and claimed

When You became our Brother,

Who calls them blesséd who are meek;

Those who make peace and mercy seek,

You name them God’s dear children

 

4. Grant us repentance when we sin -

Cast all our sins behind You!

Complete what You in us begin,

In trials let us find You

Gentle and lowly, calling us

To trust in You for holiness,

Until You will exalt us.
