Filled With Joy No Mind Can Measure
Easter
Joy against Death
8.7.8.7.7.7.8.8.
Tune: Werde Munter (LSB 548)
Filled with joy no mind can measure,
Joy no sin can ever stain,
With the gift my faith shall treasure
Through all grief and doubt and pain,
For the Spirit teaches well
That the very gates of hell
Can’t prevail against the blessing
That my heart is now possessing.
For my God gives me salvation
From the guilt I see in me;
And to me, his lost creation
He has granted liberty
From my sins that had me bound,
From the darkness all around.
In the light of Christ my Savior
I am freed from death forever.
There is nothing I see in me
That my Lord does not forgive;
With his blood My God did win me,
With his Word he makes me live.
In the flesh of Christ I see
Every sin that was in me
Was destroyed when Jesus suffered
When his life for me was offered.
Now let Satan’s accusation
Fall against my shield of faith
That I raise in jubilation
As I sing of Jesus’ death,
Where the devil’s head was bruised,
And the souls that he abused
Were redeemed by one named Jesus,
Who the poor from sin releases.
Come and join me in my singing,
Let our joy break forth in song!
Faith both love and hope is bringing
To the peace where saints belong,
To the throne of God most high,
For whose love our voices cry:
Praise the Father, Son and Spirit,
Praise his free and perfect merit!
