From the Dust We Shall Become
7777
Tune: Gott sei Dank (TLH 501)
For Ruth
1 From the dust we shall become
Will arise the seeds here sown,
And the One who takes us home
With His voice will claim His own.
2 They are His, who once was dead;
They are His, who lives for them;
They – the ones His word has fed –
Shall behold Jerusalem.
2 There the pearls they enter through
Joys to know though here unknown,
They shall see all things made new,
Things they but by faith had known.
3 Sister, shed with hope your tears;
Pour them out with faith’s complaint,
Till His comfort soon appears
In His word that calls you saint.
4 Do not hold your grief in you.
Pour your heart out to the Lord;
He will hear and He will do
All He promised in His Word.
5 There they rest with Lazarus,
Tears wiped dry from all their eyes,
With the thief, who on the cross
Was bestowed true Paradise.
6 There then put your sorrows now
On the One who takes way
All the death your sorrows know,
All the pain you feel today.
7 Soon in mansions He prepared
You will leave behind this strife;
All who here Christ’s cross have shared
There receive eternal life.
8 Then the feast we will attend,
Where regrets cannot be known,
Where our joys will have no end,
Where the faithful find their crown.
