Lord Jesus Christ, Come Quickly

A hymn on Luke 16:25

76 76 D

Tune: Lob Gott getrost mit singen (LSB 746)

1 Lord Jesus Christ, come quickly,

And end our earthly pain;

We wander here so weakly

And yearn Your heav’n to gain;

Lead us from all temptation

That draws our hearts to stray,

And give Your consolation

Upon this narrow way.

2 The fig tree soon is blooming,

As Summer shows its face,

The fire all sin consuming,

But we alive by grace

Will stand in that blest City,

Which is our mother dear,

In which we knew God’s pity

That took away our fear.

3 O Love, I come before You

Made worthy by Your love,

In faith I now adore You

By sight I will above

Rejoice to see Your glory,

And join the myriad throng

To sing Your wonders’ story

In one eternal song.

4 Forgotten then all sadness,

And tears will all be dry,

And joy beyond all gladness

Will end the sinner’s sigh;

And Laz’rus, once so lowly,

Will stand all glorified,

And praise his Helper solely

For life that You supplied.
